Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin (born Winnipeg, raised in Wellington) is a Canadian actor from Canada. She was born in Winnipeg and was raised in Wellington Paquin made her acting debut in the role of Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film The Piano for which she received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at the age of 11, which makes her the second youngest winner in Oscar history. Anna Paquin's full name is Anna Helene Paquin. Born on July 24, 1982, on the 24th of July 1982 in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was the first Canadian born New Zealand actress. As a child, Paquin won her the Academy Award for best support actress. Her performance as the enthusiastic and lively girl of Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) earned her the prize. When she responded to a request for open auditions at the age of nine years old, with no previous experience in acting the actress was chosen for Flora McGrath's role. Flora is the child of a Scottish pianist who was mute. The couple were relocated from Scotland to New Zealand during the middle of the nineteenth century to get married. In her teens, she moved to the United States. Paquin began her career when she was a kid, with the part as the Jane Eyre main character in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre followed by she played a significant role on the film Fly Away Home. Paquin played a minor role in the television movie of 1997 adaption of Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding. She also played the queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (2007). She was a teenager as teenagers in Hurlyburly (1998) She's All That (1999) and A Walk on the Moon (1999) and played the character of a groupie Polexia Aphrodisa on the screen in Almost Famous (2000).
